Having a daily self-care routine is one of the best habits to gain in 2021.
It’s a routine that will allow you to spend time with yourself, unwind, and let go of all the daily stresses while keeping your mental health strong!
This is essential especially in the time that we are living in right now. Taking the time to pamper yourself, take a hot shower, read a book, and invest in a skincare routine are all things that will help improve your overall mood.
With that being, today I will share with you all the essential steps I take on my daily self-care routine.
- Pamper Yourself With A Hot Bath or Shower
I personally love to take really warm (almost hot) showers and, at least once a week, I always invest time in a warm bath as a pamper night treat. Whichever I choose, I like to take my time to be able to relax my muscles, let go of all my worries and just be in the moment with myself.
One of my favorite things to use during my pamper night is the Chill Pills by Ouai – they’re like oversized fizzing tablets that easily diffuse into hot water, leaving your bath smelling like gorgeous jasmine and rose fragrance. To amp up the vibe, I also like to light up a candle – one of the best relaxing scents for me has to be Beach Walk by Maison Martin Margiela Replica line. This scent is pure bliss! Smells extremely relaxing with notes of Bergamot, Heliotrope, Coconut Milk, and Musk.
2. Take Care of Your Body
When it comes to body scrubs, I really like the Fresh Sugar Body Polish because there’s a lot of clean and natural ingredients,s and it’s great for everyday use.
This is a very mild exfoliator – not harsh on your skin – which makes it quite pleasant to use. It not only exfoliates your body beautifully but also leaves your skin really hydrated because of its base ingredients – honey and sugar.
Another body scrub that I love is the Scalp and Body Scrub by Ouai. The big difference between these two scrubs is that the Ouai scrub is also suitable to remove the dead skin cells from your scalp.
The benefits of using exfoliators in your daily self-care routine are that by using these products, you are removing dead skin cells and promoting blood circulation in your scalp and body. In turn, with more blood circulation, more nutrients are distributed to your skin. The more nutrients your skin gets, the healthier it will look.
Although scrubs can leave your skin with a soft feeling (and look), there’s nothing better than a really hydrating body wash. The Body Cleanser by Ouai and the Ultra Moisture Body Wash by Olay are the ones that I use the most because they are super nourishing and hydrating. None of them are soapy to the point of leaving your skin very right after the shower. With these two, my skin feels so hydrated when I come out of the shower.
3. Use a Comfortable Robe
After leaving your shower/bath, you don't really want to hop straight into your clothes. If you want to keep the relaxing vibes high, a perfect comfortable robe is a way to go – this robe from Nordstrom will keep you super warm and comfy during the rest of your pamper session.
4. Use a Relaxing Fragrance
Right after my shower/bath, I love to use a little fragrance on my skin. I might seem weird or useless because after all, I am going to bed right? But there’s just something about being able to enjoy your favourite relaxing scent right before bed.
It allows you to unwind and relax completely. The fragrance I like to use is the Mon Guerlain by Guerlain – this is a gorgeous, relaxing, and elegant fragrance with top notes of lavender.
It is perfect for bedtime!
5. Skincare Routine Time!
Having a consistent skincare routine will not only be healthy for your skin down the line but also will help you feel good.
And when we look good, we feel good! Am I right?
When it comes to having a skincare routine during your pamper moment, it is important to use an exfoliator (so that all the dead skin cells are removed from your skin) and of course, a face mask. Because what is a pamper routine without a face mask?!
It doesn’t have to be a time-consuming face mask – it can simply be a 10 to 15min face mask. The one that I like to use is the Oat Face Mask with Pomegranate Seed Extract by Aveeno – this product has a creamy texture and feels really soothing to the skin. It also brightens and hydrates my skin so much.
6. Read A Book or Write on your Journal
In order to keep your mind in a Zen state, it’s so important to put your mind into something else – like reading a book or writing in your journal.
While I’m letting the face mask do its magic, I like to read one chapter of a book or even, use this time to work on my 5 Minute Journal. During this time, I also like to drink a creamy latte or settle for something more soothing such as relaxing jasmine or lavender tea.
